- The land

The first thing you sense about the Cold Mountain community and the land that surrounds it is how long people have farmed, raised livestock and fished here. The second is why we named it Cold Mountain. It's part of the contiguous mountain ridge of the actual Cold Mountain, which at 6000ft dominates the area skyline. Tucked into a beautiful valley at elevations from 3000 to 4000 feet, our Cold Mountain consists of extraordinary ever changing vistas, mild temperate climates, functional flat mountain meadows and the sounds of rushing rivers. You get the feeling this land has always been pleasant-always been beautiful. And lucky, including having the good fortune of being part of the 500,000 acre Pisgah National Forest; preserving in perpetuity the boundaries of this valley. So we start with the Pisgah, into which we drop our 300 acre development, Cold Mountain. Much of that acreage is common area for the community at large. So now we have a park within a park. However, the beauty of our Cold Mountain is that it's not isolated. You're twelve min from Waynesville, a town the L.A. Times just called a perfect blend of mountain charm and sophistication. Asheville, the larger city with all its resources is just under a half-an-hour away. So we start with a shell of pristine natural beauty that quickly connects with a unique combination of city and town experiences. Driving from Cold Mountain in any direction, the fertile countryside laps up to the side of the road and you realize you have the opportunity to be part of what's been here a long, long, time.
